Purple-Pink Day Lily

This is my latest Day Lily. I love Day Lilies...

I know, I know... The flowers only last one day, so what is to like? Well, the number of flowers that the plant produces compensates for the short term that the flower actually lives, in my opinion.

This one, I received as a gift. Love flowers!!! Live ones :)

Thanks for dropping by,

Little Pink Rose

I have this rose for a long time.

The number of flowers is quite amazing. I propagate this rose. It was a rose tree that was always sick. Well, the "baby" is never sick! It is a beautiful plant.

Tomatoes in a Bottle

I decided to protect my tomato seedlings this year. I came up with this idea: use bottomless soda bottles.

My rationale was to provide not only protection for cutworms, but also heat for the plants to flourish as fast as possible.

I only left the bottle for 1-2 weeks, depending on the plant.

This all happened in March. Right now, my tomato plants are huge :)

Poppies

I love Poppies during this time of the year. They do better in my yard than the some of the flowers that bloom at this time of the year in California.

For instance, I also love Primulas, but it turns out that the slugs/snails also love them... so it is a fight between the slug/snails and me.

I bought these plants, and they were very small. I believe I planted them around December.

Azalea Light Pink

I have to confess: this azalea is my favorite! When it flowers, which is happening right now, it flowers! You can barely see green.

It is a very light pink. Beautiful! With dark pink mouth.

This plant is definitely in a shade area of my backyard. It loves it there. It got quite damaged when I reconstructed the fence close by. I actually step on it :( Now, it is in a good shape again.

Thanks for visiting.

Azalea Dark Pink

I bought these azalea 2 years ago. However, this is their first year not in a pot. I got 3 of them at Costco.

First, I transferred them into another pot, so they could get established. After one year, I transplanted all of them in the front yard.

They almost died because the irrigation system was leaking and not much water was getting to them. Now, they are as pretty and strong as they can be!

Heuchera

These Heucheras were started from one of the packages of plant that you can buy at Costco. They multiplied a lot.

They are in front of my house on a shade place. Boy, do the flower!!! It is beautiful. The flowers are quite small, but abundant.

Thanks for visiting.

Staghorn

My Staghorn fern suffered a lot because of the freezing temperatures that we had here last December. It was beautiful, huge, gorgeous. All that was left is the new growth. I had to cut all the leaves that got burnt :(

It is still a beautiful plant.

Thanks for visiting.

Dark Pink New Zealand Tea Bush in bloom

I love this bush. It is huge now. I planted several years ago.

The color of the little flowers is dark pink, almost red. I planted 4 of these. I have to remove two of them as I did not give enough space... It is in my list of to do's for several years :( What do you think?

Clivia - Bulb for Shade Garden

I received this plant as a gift last April. I was told that it needed shade, real shade.

I thought that would be better to put on a part of the garden that there was some sun. I was instructed to not do that. Shade, shade, shade.

Well, I am very glad  I followed the instructions. It is a bulb. Really amazing plant.

This plant is in a part of my garden that not even azaleas handled :) It is beside a hydrangea that I am not sure how is surviving there either... Hey, not complaining. Love them both. Isn't the color astonishing? For no sun!!! Love it!

Thanks for visiting.
Update: Do La Do told me the name of the plant. Yay!!!! Clivia. Thanks so much Do La Do.

P.S. Could not find out the name of this plant.

Hanging Basket

This plant is one of the most reliable plants I ever have.

It is in a hanging basket in front of my house, and in a big pot in my back yard.

At this time of the year, it produces purple flowers. My friends when come to visit me always tell how beautiful this plant is. Sorry I do not know the name. If you do, please let me know.

Thanks for visiting.

Little purple flowers

I started these plants last year, probably around September/October. I did not even remember that they had purple flowers. I started because it can be one of the filler foliage that I can scatter around my garden to cover the soil.

To my surprise, in February I was gifted with all these lovely flowers.

These plants - I started several of them - are still in a pot. Soon, I will plant them in the garden.
